I have a bit of a carrier addiction. I've owned many over the course of the last few years with my two kids. I like having options. But with my second, a good carrier became more crucial than ever. My son has terrible reflux and in general, is a colicky baby. This means that on any given day, he spends at least half of it nestled again my chest. Baby snuggles are great, right? No biggie. Except that I can't get anything done, despite my exceptional baby carrying skills! My poor back was ready to tap out. Did I mention I also have a 4 year old girl who is constantly wanting to play?
Never fear, I thought--I have plenty of carriers. My super supportive hip carrier would still swallow him whole at this point (7 weeks) and is too bulky for work around the house. How about my X-style/loop carrier? Fine, but he is a little nuclear reactor and we both end up sweating bullets. Sling? Not supportive enough for the daily tasks I need to do.
Enter Konny Summer. I had recently tried another Brand's "summer" carrier and while the material was a mesh of sorts, it was honestly just as hot as their regular style. Desperate to regain use of my hands, and keep my sweet boy free from the torture of tummy discomfort, I decided to try Konny's Summer carrier. Being in the States, I expected a long shipping time, but it made it to me in about a week. I was immediately in love with the material--cool to the touch, breathable, and soft. I could confidently go on a walk in the dead of Colorado summer with one strap supporting his head (only partially covered of course) and know that he was protected from the sun and could still breathe comfortably.
We use our Konny carrier nearly everyday and I am so glad I saw the ad on instagram so that I even knew it was an option. It's clearly well made--and the fact that it keeps me and baby comfortable when nothing else is working is such a relief. If you live in a hot/sunny climate (even if only seasonally), do yourself a favor and get the Summer carrier. Your back will thank you and you will enjoy your baby carrying so much more!
